Course - Map Interpretation Day

How long:-                   1 day  (1000 - 1600)

Who for:-                     For people who want to bring life the 2D features of a flat map and to be able to ’see’ the 3D real world. Relating the map to the ground can be one of the most difficult skills a navigator can  master.

                                       This  one  day  course  will  provide participants  with  a  greater appreciation of contours, landforms, and the skills required when estimating distance.

People attending this event would normally have attended our Navigator Level 1 course or be at the same skill level.

This course is held in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere to encourage maximum learning, whilst having fun.

What will be covered:-

Method:-                       A mixture of indoor and outdoor activities and practical exercises, involving

                                        practical demonstrations, static and mobile stances.

Terrain:-                       4 - 6 kilometres over semi rough open moorland.

Equipment:-                All navigational equipment is provided. Participants will need to bring suitable

                                        clothing and footwear for outdoor work. (see recommended clothing list).

Catering:-                     Tea and coffee provided, please bring own packed lunch.
